The hero rises out of our need for results. Someone needs to take the lead. Only a few will step forward. Only the chosen will succeed. Meritocratic darwinism. Michael Jordan. Steve Jobs. Elon Musk. They'll do whatever it takes to get it done.
If you've worked close to a hero, you know who they are. They are driven, effective, ready for anything. Cannot outcompete them.
Cannot argue with them either.
The heroe trades results for inclusion. He cannot listen. He doesn't have the time. He needs to get it done. Soon, everybody understands this. The team adjusts organically to support the hero. Never contradict. Echo chamber.
The hero suffers: "why does it always have to be me?" He carries the world on his shoulders but nullifies other alternatives.
The hero delivers results. But that's the only thing you will get from him.
